Gemini 4 is for defenders only
Google kept Argon off the public API. The cyber teams that do get it receive the version with the guardrails removed.
By Drew Wall,
On Wednesday, Google announced Gemini 4 Argon and kept it off the public API. It goes first to a set of trusted cyber defenders.
Who gets it
Gemini 4 Argon is rolling out through Google's Fairwind Program. Google is in the U.S. government's voluntary pre-release process. Paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers come later, after more guardrail work. Anthropic has kept Claude Mythos Preview to a small set of trusted organizations the same way.
Those defenders, and Google's own teams, get Argon without cyber guardrails. Google trained it to find, validate, and patch critical flaws on its own. Wiz used an early run to uncover a hole in hospital software that earlier frontier models missed. On CWE-bench v1 it ties for first at 68%.
